They say youth is wasted on the young. The young hate hearing that, but as I have gotten older myself, I have realized this more and more to be true. When looking back on our youth, we often have on our nostalgia-tinted glasses on. This allows us, with the benefit of knowing what being an adult is like, to see all of the best aspects of youth, which, granted, are abundant. Without that key perceptual benefit, however, youth can take on a different shade. Youth don't have the benefit of knowing what adulthood is like, so this is the very perception they often have. "Being a kid sucks!" they'll say. And you know what? They are not wrong.
